Parent Workshops

Workshops for Parents

As a mother of three children, Michele understands the challenges today’s parents face. Even with a degree in early childhood she had the same insecurities as all parents. Was she not doing enough or doing too much in her children’s live? Even with an understanding that there are no perfect parents there are definitely times she wishes she could have a do over! In her workshops Michele share stories from her years of teaching and directing experience. She has permission from her now adult children to share some of her more humorous parenting adventures as well as some more challenging experiences.

Positive Discipline

Ever wonder why your child listens to their preschool teacher differently than you? What is their magic formula? Learn the goals of misbehavior and how to respond to each. Gain an understanding of appropriate expectations for your child’s age. Why punishments are often ineffective but natural and logical consequences work. Learn effective language that diminishes power struggles and encourages cooperation.

What is My Child Learning through Play?

"Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children play is serious learning. Play is really the work of childhood." - Fred Rogers

When choosing an early learning environment parents what to ensure the children will have all the skills they need to learn later in life. This workshop will discuss what children are learning through play in their classrooms. Where to find the literacy, math, science, social studies, engineering, fine and gross motor development hidden in play throughout your child’s day will be discussed. Learn how a hands-on learning is developmentally appropriate and social/emotional development should be at the forefront of every early childhood curriculum.
